Elmo, our fixer-upper challenge!

Oh, boy have we done something now. We sold our nice 3000 sq ft home in Grantsville for our new challenge in Elmo. It is not pretty, nice or much of anything right now except little (1900+ sq ft). BUT..... it has potential! So much potential!!

Our house sits on 10 acres about 2 miles north of Elmo. We have a beautiful view of the mountains to the east and the west - perfect for sunrises and sunsets.

 These pictures were taken before we moved in. So they will have to be our "before" pictures. Below you see our lovely master bedroom, closets and master bathroom. Oh bubba! Have we got nothing! The "master bedroom" has no flooring at all, just subfloor with staples here, there and everywhere to walk on. Ouch! The murals and paint jobs in each room are simply crazy. The master bedroom has a sunset scene. I guess you could call it that. The master bathroom has a little vanity, toilet and a small shower. It is the littlest of little bathrooms. Not sure why it's in the master bedroom. The closets are a joke! You see them as you pass through to the bathroom.

 On the left is Duncan's bedroom mural. You can barely see the campfire with a roasting spicket and a cooking pot. It then turns into an adobe-like whatever. The main bathroom is probably the best room and normal except for the rough sand on the wall texture.

 Here we have the kitchen/dining room. Nice but small. I mean small. Okay, maybe not as small as Marcie and Ben's postage stamp apartment but it is about 1/3 of the size of the Grantsville one. It has light pine laminate floor.

Not sure why John took the pictures of the front room through the stair rails but it's the only picture. The hardwood floor looks great in the pictures but oh, what a mess. Every piece is warped, cracked and installed crazy. There are 1/2" to 1" gaps between the pieces. It is horrible to clean because it is washboardy so the vacuum can't clean it. The broom just moves everything into the cracks and holes - yuck! My swifter has not been effective either. I am still figuring it out. It is a top priority to REMOVE. And that bar railing is not screwed down so it is just for looks.

 Our lovely basement, fireplace that doesn't work. Don't you just love the lava rock wall and bench wrapping around the whole room. Grief! So much work to do!

Our make-shift pantry. There was NO storage areas in the whole house so we had to do something. This is some of the stuff from our Price trailer. This is nothing from Grantsville yet.

 This back porch is as scary as it looks! With missing boards, all rotting boards, not built right to begin with, it is really scary. The appraiser said it would have to be replaced before any lenders would lend on it. .

The backyard consists of a row of Bonnie-hating-bushes, a T sidewalk, 8 fruit trees (yeah) and two large Chinese Elm trees and not much grass. This will be changing soon!!!! And one large dilapidated barn/shed. At one point this winter, we kenneled nine coon dogs in the shed. Now it has two coon dogs, 2 chickens and a dozen pheasants.

 Duncan LOVES the acreage and uses it daily. He has two coon dogs which he hunts coons often with and trains his pointer retriever, Little Anne, every day. It will keep us busy for a many years but our creative juices are flowing and ready to dive in.
